Illustration Friday: Poem

It's been a little while, but I'm back with a new one for IF. I'm a fan of e.e. cummings, so I chose one of his poems for inspiration.

who knows if the moon's
a balloon,coming out of a keen city
in the sky--filled with pretty people?
(and if you and i should

get into it,if they
should take me and take you into their balloon,
why then
we'd go up higher with all the pretty people

than houses and steeples and clouds:
go sailing
away and away sailing into a keen
city which nobody's ever visited,where

always
it's
Spring)and everyone's
in love and flowers pick themselves

I read the poem and somehow thought you might have used the moon as part of your balloon.

Its a beautiful illustration. You have a talent with layering shades on shades.. and one has a sense of them up there... (depth)

lovely. the 'moon balloon' is perfect and I really like the shadows and negative space framing everything.

Great composition! The warm on cool really draws you in. I like the dreamlike and airy quality of it, too. Nice job.
